Finshots is a website which provide financial news in 3 minute read. it became a huge successin india. it had already built an engaged audience of over 100,000 subscribers for its finance news platform while still just a website. After the success a new challege came to me, built an app for the platform.

I was a one person design team. I was tasked with conceptualizing and bringing to life a new native mobile app experience catered to user demands for convenience and on-the-go access.

The Problem

Our team found that people were having difficulty locating articles through the website and newsletters. Often, they had to search on Google or go through their email inboxes to find a specific story or read it again.


Business students are primarily obsessed with thoroughly reading and re-reading articles to understand the nuances of the financial sector.

Our team found that people were having difficulty locating articles through the website and newsletters. Often, they had to search on Google or go through their email inboxes to find a specific story or read it again.


Business students are primarily obsessed with thoroughly reading and re-reading articles to understand the nuances of the financial sector.

Our approach

As a key member of a 3-person product redesign team, I contributed significantly to the swift yet thorough reimagination of our company's core mobile app. We collected feedback from core users, explored inspiring examples from other news apps, and conducted analysis to determine the essential features required, with a focus on prioritizing a smooth reading experience.


Through our collaborative efforts, we successfully guided the app from the initial concept phase to the release of a redesigned MVP in just 4 months.

Our approach

Revolutionary step

One of the main attractive features was that people could customize their notification times in the app. It was an entirely different approach from other apps in the market, which often push unnecessary notifications. Valuing users' personal space became a cornerstone for our success.

What was the result?

The app received highly positive user feedback upon release. During the testing period and after launch, it became clear our reimagined interfaces and streamlined workflows better met customers' needs.


The app gained overall 100k downloads in one year, and a 4.9 rating on the Play Store.

The original v1 release of our app in 2020 was met with high praise and adoption from users, as reflected in positive reviews and strong engagement. This powerful market validation of the initial design and experience was affirmed when we received the Best App of 2020 award on Google Play shortly after launch.
